Join us next summer in the beautiful, wild Dartmoor National Park in Devon. We will be staying at the unique Bala Brook, a retreat centre set in its own grounds besides a river flowing down from the moor. It offers privacy and tranquillity, with immediate access to the surrounding stunning countryside. The retreat centre has been recently refurbished and it is run, as far as is possible, on sustainable and ecological principles. This is going to be a wonderful long weekend of nature and rejuvenation. It will be educational, creative, therapeutic and allow you explore and evolve.
Location and Accommodation
Bala Brook is nestled in its own valley on the southern edge of Dartmoor National Park. The retreat centre is located beside a fast-flowing moorland brook and surrounded by nature. It really is a beautiful and nurturing setting. The sound of rushing water, the changing of the seasons, the benign presence of the trees, the proximity of the moor, the everchanging colours, the darkness at night, the deep silence – all of this is hugely beneficial to mind, body and spirit. The nearest station is Totnes, an 8 mile taxi journey from Bala Brook. The train departs from London Paddington. Or of course you can drive to the retreat centre if you prefer, there is plenty of parking.
Retreat programme
The first class will be on Thursday evening, followed by a delicious dinner. Ro will then lead you through two classes on the Friday and Saturday, a more dynamic morning class to align to body and breath and an afternoon practice to delve deeper into the postures and relax and restore. Each morning will start with meditation or a guided walk. On Sunday there will be a morning practice before breakfast, another shorter class before lunch and the end of the retreat.
Each day after morning yoga and a healthy breakfast, there will be the opportunity to walk, have a massage, relax, explore the moor and wander in nature.
Arrival time on Thursday 10th August is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish on Sunday 13th August after lunch at 2.30pm.
Things to do
From Bala Brook there are lots of beautiful walks to go on exploring the wild and raw nature of the moor and Dartmoor National Park. There are also plenty of relaxation spots for you to take advantage of in the grounds.
Have a massage, read your book, stomp out across the moor or meander slowly around the garden. Whatever you do, enjoy slowing down and recharging in nature.

There is varied accommodation to choose. From single ensuite rooms, twin and triple options plus 2 sweet Kuti, monastic style retreat rooms.
