Intro to Yoga: Downward-facing dog

The final part of my three part series: INTRO TO YOGA. (check out part one and two here if you haven’t already!)

There are a few things I wish that I had been taught when I first started practicing yoga. Hence I made this series as I want to do everything I can to make it a little bit easier for you guys as beginners.

For me personally I had been practicing for a good few years before a teacher finally told me the true alignment I should be in for Downward-facing dog. Then when this happened my yoga practice completely transformed!

So it may seem silly to do a whole post on just one posture. However I really believe the down dog is the basis for everything! It can teach you so much about alignment and I wish I had known how to do the posture correctly when I first started practicing.

So here it is Adho Mukha Svanasana or “Downward facing dog”…

London’s greatest workout = Project Awesome

Stumbling across Project Awesome a couple of months ago was one of the best discoveries I have made since living in London. My friend Sophie mentioned it to me and on a whim I thought I would give it ago, thinking it would probably be the first and last time I went. I try out a lot of different classes/fitness activities in London. A lot of them I check out and never return to and a few of them I enjoy and maybe go back to once or twice. The first Project Awesome I went to was on the 6th of july and I have pretty much been back every week since then…

Yes it is exercise and yes you have to wake up at 5:30 but it is so so worth it.

How to workout like a model – YOGA

Practising yoga can have huge benefits for both the body and the mind.

Yoga strengthens and tones the body whilst leaving the mind feeling calmer and more present.

The ancient form of yoga can be practiced anywhere, there is no need for a gym, trainers or even a mat. Hence it is the perfect form of fitness for models who are traveling a lot.

Studio One – Islington’s new yoga studio

Studio One is a brand new studio opening in the heart of Islington.

The lovely sisters Ali and Sarah had a dream to make a healthy lifestyle accessible and convenient. Not only that, they wanted to create a community, a place where support is given and the vibe is friendly. A place where you feel inspired to be your best self, in what ever form that may be.

And so with an awesome team and months of hard work Studio One was born…
