Are you needing more greens in your life but just don’t know how to get them?! We all know the amazing benefits of plants! However sometimes it can be tricky to get as much as we would like into our diet.

By making this spinach and edamame hummus at home you know you are getting all of that goodness and nourishment without having to eat a plate of kale for lunch.

Warming winter salad

As the days get shorter and the nights get longer I have this yearning to cuddle up on the sofa with a blanket, a good movie and lots of comfort food. Staying motivated to exercise is harder too! Going outside to run when its 5 degrees and pouring rain is just not quite as appealing as it is in summer.

This makes it then harder to eat well. I love summer foods. I love to eat salads, banana ice cream and fruit…everything which is definitely meant to be eaten on a tropical island not in London, in the wet and cold!

Then the less I move my body and the more heavy food I eat the less happy and energised I become, so it really is a downward spiral…

However we can’t let winter dampen our spirits and stop us from reaching our goals! So to stop S.A.D. from happening I listen to my body and consciously avoid heavy foods and fuel it with yummy, nutritious meals. I make sure what I eat is still warming and tasty so I feel super satisfied for those colder evening.

So here is my favourite healthy warming winter meal. Trust me you are going to want to try this…

The five a day Soup

Vegetables are good for us + plants are power! The nutrients found in vegetables are vital for a healthy body and can even reduce our risk of chronic disease. This is probably not new news to most of us. However it can sometimes be difficult to get in those five recommended vegetables a day and all of the nutrients we need.

I am very conscious of what I put into my body, making sure I am nourishing it in order for it to stay healthy and energised. When it reaches dinner time and I feel like a need that extra bit of veg in my life I will make this soup!

It is delicious, hearty, contains your five a day and is very easy to make…

Bircher Breakfast

This is a delicious, healthy breakfast that can be prepared the night before so there is no fuss in the morning!

When time is not on my side I make this super quick bircher the night before. It takes less than five minutes to throw together in the evening and then you can just grab it and go in the morning.

Plus it is incredibly yummy.
